A sonogram can be a joyful, anxious or at times even a sorrowful experience. A good sonographer will be thorough and accurate while recognizing our shared humanity, meeting each patient with respect, understanding and compassion. Through my personal experience, I know the positive impact that a seemingly small gesture or comment from a healthcare provider can have on someone who is looking for answers as they navigate the medical system. It is a great privilege for me to be a part of someone's care. It is my responsibility to be present and provide reassurance to my patients. It is important for me that everyone receives the best that I can give.
